The full body communication feeling!
Humans have an innate need to connect and communicate with each other.
And when two humans communicate well, the result is not just mental, it’s felt throughout the whole body.
Our pupils dilate together, our pulse and breathing synchronises.
We mirror each others movements - a stroke of the hair, crossing or uncrossing legs, scratching your nose.
The happy hormone, oxytocin is released by the brain and floods the body with physical reactions - our blood pressure lowers, inflammation is reduced and wound healing is stimulated.
Brain waves start to synchronise - known as “neural coupling” helping us to feel understood and trusted.
Our thinking becomes clearer. We’re able to make better decisions, faster. Our memory improves and we feel more switched on.
We feel energised, alert and engaged.
Dopamine and seratonin are both released - we feel happy, secure and optimistic!
It really is a whole body response!
So next time you have a great conversation or connection with someone, notice all these things happening throughout your mind and body.
The incredible power of human connection!
